BMW M3/M4 Five-link rear axle
The original BMW M3 and M4 Five-link suspensions and driveshafts do not fulfill the needs for motorsport usage.
Designed and manufactured a new construction while keeping the rear chassis original.
Each project always starts with mapping all customer requirements. For this project we have worked with the following structure:
- Mapping customer requirements
- Convert original components to 3D
- Create concept design in 3D
- Customer collaboration, preview 3D files
- Strength analysis
- Testing and validation
BMW Five-link suspension properties
Total width: 2020 mm
Ride height: 50 mm
Suspension stroke: 90 mm
Adjustable camber with inserts
Keep existing chassis
Mapping customer requirements
Based on the original OEM design, we have mapped all customer requirements.
Convert original components to 3D
The chassis and all OEM components are 3D scanned using Autodesk Remake. With this software it is possible to convert photos and scans into high definition 3D models.
Create concept design in 3D
Now the constraints of the original chassis are known, multiple concepts are designed which all meet the customer needs.
Customer collaboration, preview 3D files
With cloud collaboration the customer can view all concepts in 3D on a web browser. Together with the customer a concept is chosen for a final design.
Based on the known conditions from racing data analysis, a strength analysis is performed on each component and the complete assembly.
After receiving customer approval, all components are manufactured using the latest CAM technology.
After production the complete assembly is validated. Checks and measurements are done and approved by the customer.
